If you only go once, aim to be on the deck about 30 minutes before sunset. You see the desert and coast in daylight, then the colours change, and the city lights come on before you leave. Our guide to Prime vs Non-Prime tickets explains when this is worth the higher price.

Best time of year

The clearest views are usually from November to March, when it is cooler and the air holds less haze. This is also peak season, so book sunset slots early. From June to September, the heat and humidity can make the view hazy, but the decks are indoors and air-conditioned, and slots are easier to get.

Best day of the week

Weekdays are usually quieter than weekends and public holidays. During school holidays and big events such as New Year's Eve, book as early as you can.

Check the weather

Dust and haze can hide the view even on a sunny day. Check the forecast the day before, and if it looks poor, a night slot can still give a good view of the lights.

Plan the rest of your visit

  • Burj Khalifa is inside The Dubai Mall, so you can pair it with the Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo or dinner by The Dubai Fountain.
  • The fountain shows run in the evening, and the view from the deck lets you watch from above.
  • Allow 1.5–2 hours for the visit, including check-in, the exhibition and the lift.
  • Take the Red Line metro to Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall station, or book a private transfer to The Dubai Mall.
